The Story Behind Momma's Song

Tommy Spencer became captivated with Southern Gospel music at the tender age of ten years old as he listened to a local radio station in his home-town of Knoxville, Tennessee. The dream of singing Gospel music grew  in his heart until he started singing locally at the age of twelve with his brother. Tommy appeared on local TV programs such as the Cas Walker Farm and Home Hour, The Bonnie Lou and Buster Show, and The Clayton Family Hour. Tommy has also sung many commercial jingles such as Wampler Sausage and Kerns Bread. In 1982, Tommy decided to take his music a step further and formed a local group called Redeemed and later with the group Mariah.

In 1999, Tommy answered  a calling to go out on his own and start a solo ministry. It was a culmination of a long path of prayers and situations that God was working together to bring this to pass. Today Tommy is traveling with a new zeal  and has become an Ambassador for God in Southern Gospel music.

Tommy appears regularly on television such as the Gospel Music channel and TBN. Tommy is also a regular on WJBZ Praise 96.3, the number one Southern Gospel station in the US as voted by the SGMA, appearing in concerts promoted by the station. Tommy has several albums to his credit as well as an accomplished songwriter. Tommy sings regularly at the Tennessee Smokies games, presenting the National Anthem to over 5,000 people each game, and appears on The Mulls Singing Convention and TBN.

Tommy's unique voice and style have made him not only well respected in the industry, but through his growth and determination, has won the hearts of the fans and the respect of his peers. Concert after concert, Tommy delivers his inimitable voice, dynamic style, and annointed music that thrills Southern Gospel fans everywhere.

In 2005, Tommy had  one of the top gospel songs in the country, "What are You Waiting for" and released "Momma's Song" nationwide in 2006 on the Capitol Label.
